Some reviews mention that the service can face delays during busy times, especially on weekends. A few diners expressed disappointment that the venue may shift away from a fully gluten-free menu in the future, which raises concerns for those with severe allergies. Although cozy, the indoor seating can get crowded and noisy when filled to capacity, detracting slightly from the serene atmosphere. A handful of regulars have pointed out that, while the food is excellent, the dessert menu lacks variety compared to the mains. Additionally, the reservation policy might feel too restrictive for those who prefer spontaneous outings.
First time here since the reopening and it won't be the last, their steaks are to die for! From a party of 4 we had 2 surf n turf and a sirloin which were all really tasty, succulent and cooked to perfection. Our 4th meal was a proper home made steak n ale pie, fully encased in short crust pastry. Non of that airy fairy puff pastry here! The accompaniments were also excellent. It's a pity that we were the only customer s in, so come on Holmesfield & Dronny Woodhouse, support your local business and help make this new venture the success it deserves to be.
We were indecisive about booking due to me having so many food allergies but popped in to have a drink and a look through the menu. It was very busy with a party booking but it was explained to us that we could have a table with a delay on food service - it was worth the wait. Lovely food, friendly staff, nice wine and incredibly dog friendly - one to remember when returning with our doggo. Felt incredibly safe with the entire kitchen being gluten free , well deserved 5 stars 🤩
Had an amazing gluten free fish and chips! They also do gluten free desserts. Very fast service and a great atmosphere. I would definitely come again!
As per their Facebook there are new owners and it will no longer be 100% GF in the new year. Our second time eating here on the way back from Whitby. I have celiac disease. It is so nice to be able to order and have anything I want and not have to worry and over explain why I need it that way. My husband can eat anything. We both love it here. He had the seafood chowder and I had fish and chips. Everything was excellent. The service, atmosphere and food.
Me and my partner absolutely loved our experience at the angel. It started off with a warm cosy atmosphere and welcoming staff. On reach to our table, we were given 2 menus with a wide range of meals. Any questions were answered confidentially not to mention very informative. After we had settled down we got politely asked if we were ready for drinks, after a good look at all the tasty meals we decided and ordered. We received cutlery in time, the food was piping hot, the presentation of the food was immaculate and very tasteful, with a range of flavours on each dish, not to mention big portions!! In between times we were checked on asked if we wanted anymore drinks, showing how attentive the staff were. Once cleared, we were asked if we would like to see the desert menu, which we did. The desert came out quickly, hot and delicious. We discussed after if there was any negative sides to our experience, and honestly, we couldn’t find fault with anything, 10/10! We tipped, and on our way out we had lovely customers greeting us and other services for cold, exhausted walkers (towels, slippers and lovely fires).
The gluten free fish and chips was unbelievable. Very reasonably priced and the pub is extremely welcoming. I would definitely come again.
Great place. We had a few recommendations for it as everything is gluten-free, and so we decided to give it a try. We were impressed even as we arrived. Lovely grounds and tastefully decorated inside. Very friendly staff. And dogs are allowed, too, so there were several 4-legged guests to coo over. And the food was a delight. We ordered far too much getting carried away that everything was GF.
